Encarnacion's Blast In 10th Pushes Reds Past Brewers 4-3

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Edwin Encarnacion was having a bad day in the field in Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers as he had committed an error. But he won the crowd at Great American Ball Park over as his home run (his second of the day) sparked a Reds rally as Cincinnati edged the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in 10 innings. Cincinnati was led by the aforementioned Encarnacion as he went 2-for-4 with 2 HRs, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs while Jeff Keppinger and Paul Bako each added 2 hits apiece - with Keppinger adding 2 doubles; starting pitcher Aaron Harang had a solid effort as he got the no-decision, pitching 8 innings, allowing only 4 hits, 1 earned run while striking out 8. The win went to Jared Burton (1-1) as he pitched the 10th inning, allowing 2 hits, walking 1 while striking out 2.
Milwaukee was led by J.J. Hardy as he went 3-for-5 with a HR, a run scored and 2 RBIs; starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo pitched very well in a no-decision as he pitched 7 strong innings, allowing only 4 hits, an earned run, walking 3 while striking out 4; Eric Gagne (1-1) was tagged with the loss as he pitched to only 3 batters, allowing 2 hits, 3 earned runs, walking 1 while giving up 2 HRs. Cincinnati (8-11) plays again on Monday as they continue their homestand, hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers (7-11); Matt Belisle (0-0) makes his season debut for Cincinnati while Los Angeles will start Brad Penny (2-2). Milwaukee (11-7) plays again on Monday as they travel to St. Louis (12-7) to take on the Cardinals; Carlos Villanueva (1-2) gets the start for Milwaukee while Adam Wainwright (2-1) will start for St. Louis.
