Lee Helps End Indians' 3-Game Losing Streak, Scalp A's 7-1

The game between the Oakland A's and Cleveland Indians on Sunday was a bit too easy for Indians starting pitcher Cliff Lee. Maybe the raw weather conditions in Cleveland had something to do with it, but nonetheless, Lee pitched well, ending Oakland's 5-game winning streak, easily defeating the Athletics 7-1 at Progressive Field. Grady Sizemore led the Indians' attack, going 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs while Travis Hafner added 2 hits and 2 RBIs; Jamey Carroll scored 3 runs. Winning pitcher Lee (2-0) pitched 8 innings, allowing only 2 hits and an earned run while striking out 8.
Oakland managed to muster only 3 hits, with Travis Buck, Mark Ellis and Kurt Suzuki with a hit apiece - with Buck scoring a run and Ellis adding an RBI. Losing pitcher Chad Gaudin (0-1) pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 earned runs while walking4 and striking out 4. Cleveland (5-7) plays again on Monday as they host the Boston Red Sox; Jake Westbrook (1-1) gets the start for Cleveland while Jon Lester (1-2) gets the start for Boston. Oakland (8-5) travels to Chicago to take on the White Sox; Greg Smith (0-0) takes the mound for Oakland while Mark Buehrle (1-0) gets the start for Chicago.
