Lowell Day-To-Day With Bad Thumb

Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers proved to hurt the Boston Red Sox in the short-term as third baseman Mike Lowell sprained his thumb and had to leave in the bottom of the second inning; X-rays on his thumb proved to be negative, and as a result, has been listed as day-to-day. Depending on the team's decision today prior to their game against Detroit, it is entirely possible that Kevin Youkilis could see action at third while Sean Casey could get a start at first base.
