Astros Rally Past Giants

Lance Berkman smacked a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the ninth inning as the Astros rallied past the Giants 8-7 in the finale of a four-game series at AT&T Park. Berkman knocked in three total for Houston, which overcame a six-run deficit to win three-of-four in the series. Carlos Lee hit a solo shot in the eighth inning and Darin Erstad followed with a pinch-hit, game-tying three-run bomb in the eighth. Tim Byrdak was credited with the win. Jose Valverde tossed a perfect ninth for his 11th save. Aaron Rowand went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored, while John Bowker drove in three for the Giants, who have dropped eight-of-11. Omar Vizquel added three hits and three runs scored in defeat. Vinnie Chulk gave up the homer to Berkman to absorb the loss.
