Bannister, Royals Blank Baltimore

Brian Bannister tossed eight innings of two-hit, shutout ball as the Royals blanked the Orioles 4-0 to avoid a four-game sweep at Kauffman Stadium. Bannister struck out five and walked only two en route to improving to 4-and-4. Jose Guillen went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for Kansas City, which won for only the second time in seven games. Alex Gordon, Billy Butler and Mark Teahen plated a run apiece in the victory. Brian Burres yielded all four runs on nine hits over six frames to drop to 3-and-4 with the loss. Luke Scott and Guillermo Quiroz had the only hits of the game for Baltimore, which slipped to 19-and-19 on the year.
