Braves Stay Hot Topping Padres 5-3



Chipper Jones hit a two-run homer as the Braves beat the Padres 5-3 in the opener of a three-game set at Turner Field. Mark Kotsay also went yard for the Braves, who have won four in-a-row. Jair Jurrjens allowed one run on seven hits while striking out eight over six innings to improve to 4-and-2 with the win. Jeff Bennett recorded the final out to notch his first save. Brian Giles had four hits and Adrian Gonzalez drove in two runs for the Padres, who fell to 12-and-21 with their fourth loss in five games. Chris Young fell to 2-and-3 with the loss.
