Cards Nip Rockies With Ninth-Inning Run

Rick Ankiel's swinging bunt plated the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning as the Cardinals clipped the Rockies 6-5 at Coors Field. Ryan Ludwick had an RBI double and starter Joel Piniero doubled home two runs for the Redbirds, who have won seven of their last nine games. Randy Flores gave up the tying run in the bottom of the eighth, but got credit for the win. Jason Isringhausen worked the ninth for his 11th save. Brian Fuentes took the loss for Colorado, which had dropped 12 of its last 15 games. Brad Hawpe homered and drove in two, and Todd Helton had two hits and an RBI in defeat.
