Cubs Pound Padres 13-2



Alfonso Soriano slugged a go-ahead, two-run homer to ignite a six-run fifth inning as the Cubs went on to crush the Padres 13-2 at Wrigley Field. Chicago tacked on five more in the sixth inning to blow the game open and win its fourth in a row. Mark DeRosa went 2-for-4 with two RBI Geovany Soto singled in two as the Cubs banged out 13 hits. Carlos Zambrano had two hits and scored a run to help his own cause. He tossed seven innings of six-hit, three-run ball to improve to 6-and-1 with the win. Randy Wolf gave up eight hits, five walks and seven runs in four-plus frames to fall to take the loss. Jody Gerut went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and Scott Hairston had two for San Diego, which has lost 19 of its last 25.
