Holm's Homer Lifts Giants Over Phillies

Steve Holm's two-run homer in the seventh proved to be the difference as the Giants edged the Phillies 4-3 in the rubber match of a three-game set at AT&T Park. The shot was Holm's first of his major league career. John Bowker was 2-for-3 with an RBI for San Francisco, which has won two straight on the heels of a five-game losing streak. Jack Taschner tossed a scoreless inning of relief to improve to 2-and-0 with the win. Brian Wilson shut the door in the ninth for his 11th save. Ryan Howard tripled in a run, and Pat Burrell and starting pitcher Adam Eaton had an RBI apiece for Philadelphia, which lost for the fourth time in six games. J.C. Romero was tagged for two runs in an inning of relief to fall to 3-and-1.
