Late Runs Lift Astros Over San Fran 7-3

Hunter Pence lofted a sac-fly in the seventh inning to snap a 3-3 tie and propel the Astros to a 7-3 win over the Giants at AT&T Park. Lance Berkman went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer for Houston, which scored three times in the sixth, once in the seventh and three more in the eighth to erase an early 3-0 deficit. Roy Oswalt stuck out six while allowing five hits and three runs in eight innings for his fourth win. After Geoff Geary put two on in the ninth, Jose Valverde got the final out in the ninth for his ninth save. Vinny Chulk took the loss in relief of starter Barry Zito, who tossed six innings of three-run ball. John Bowker hit a solo homer, and Fred Lewis went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for San Francisco.
