Reds Outslug, Cool Off Marlins

Jeff Keppinger and Brandon Phillips each clubbed two-run homers in the seventh inning as the Reds outslugged the Marlins 8-7 in the opener of a four-game set at Great American Ball Park. Corey Patterson went 4-for-5 with an RBI as Cincinnati won for the third time in five games. Aaron Harang surrendered four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks over seven frames to improve to 2-and-5 with the win. Francisco Cordero recorded the final four outs to notch his sixth save. Jeremy Hermida, Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla each launched solo shots for Florida, which had its seven-game winning streak snapped. Taylor Tankersley allowed four runs in one inning of work to suffer the loss and fall to 0-and-1.
