White Sox Nip Angels With Ninth-Inning Run

Jim Thome singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning as the White Sox pulled out a 4-3 win over the Angels in the finale of a four-game set at the Big A. A.J. Pierzynski went 3-for-5 with an RBI for Chicago, which won the final two games to earn a series split. Octavio Dotel pitched an inning and a third of relief to get the win and Bobby Jenks closed it out for his eighth save. Francisco Rodriguez allowed the go-ahead score to suffer his first loss of the year. Garret Anderson and Casey Kotchman each had two hits and an RBI for Los Angeles, which has dropped six of its last eight games.
