Indians Thump Tigers 8-2 in Detroit



Ryan Garko hit a three-run homer in the top of the first and the Indians cruised to an 8-2 victory over the Tigers to earn a split of their four-game series at Comerica Park. Kelly Shoppach hit a two-run shot to spark a five-run second inning, as the Indians improved to 29-and-35 on the season. Cliff Lee picked up his AL-leading 10th win, allowing two run over five frames while striking out five. Placido Polanco had four hits and drove in a run for the Tigers, who dip to 26-and-37 with the setback. Dontrelle Willis issued five walks and gave up all eight runs while recording just four outs to take the loss.
