Pirates Pound Yankees 12-5

Ryan Doumit homered, drove in two and scored twice as the Pirates pounded the Yankees 12-5 in the opener of a three-game interleague set at PNC Park. Adam LaRoche had three hits and two RBI, and Jose Bautista belted a two-run homer for Pittsburgh, which has won three of its last four games. Nyjer Morgan added a pinch-hit, two-run double and Freddy Sanchez scored three times in the win. Pittsburgh pounded out a season-high 19 hits en route to beating the Yankees for the first time in regular season play. Tom Gorzelanny yielded three runs over six innings to even his record at 6-and-6 with the win. Bobby Abreu hit a two-run homer and Robinson Cano went 3-for-4 with an RBI for New York. Darrell Rasner was rocked for 10 hits and seven runs over five innings to fall to 4-and-5 with the setback.
