Tigers Hand Zito 11th Loss

Armando Galarraga tossed six solid innings as the Tigers cruised past the Giants 7-2 in the rubber match of a three-game set at AT&T Park. Galarraga struck out five while allowing two unearned runs on seven hits to up his mark to 7-and-2. Placido Polanco went 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored, while Carlos Guillen added two hits and drove in two for Detroit, which has won eight of its last nine games. Magglio Ordonez and Miguel Cabrera also plated a run each in the victory. Travis Denker and Steve Holm scored on a wild pitch and a throwing error, respectively, for the Giants, who have lost five-of-six. Barry Zito was rocked for five runs on five hits and four walks in just two frames to drop to 2-and-11 on the year.
