Cubs Avoid Sweep By Snakes

The Cubs broke open a 4-3 game with a sixth-run eighth inning and held on to down the Diamondbacks 10-6 at Chase Field. Reed Johnson's second career grand slam capped the eighth inning uprising as Chicago salvaged the finale of the three-game series. Derrek Lee also homered for the Cubs, who remain one game ahead of the Brewers atop the NL Central. Ted Lilly pitched six innings of three-run ball for his 10th win. Doug Davis allowed four runs in seven frames to fall to 3-and-5 with the loss. Tony Clark hit a two-run homer and Chris Snyder a three-run shot for Arizona, which remains a game ahead of LA in the NL West.
