Reports Say That Torre Will Become New Dodgers Manager
The Journal News reported on Monday that according to their sources, The Los Angeles Dodgers will fire current L.A. manager Grady Little and replace him with former Yankees skipper Joe Torre. The Journal News which is based in New York and serves Westchester and adjoining counties, say that the move could be made as early as Tuesday. The report also said that Yankees bench coach Don Mattingly will become Torre's bench coach with the Dodgers. Mattingly was one of three candidates interviewed to replace Torre, but reports out of New York say that the job was offered to Joe Girardi. Kevin Long the New York hitting coach could be heading west as well.Dodgers management pledged at the end of the season that Little would be back as manager next year. Los Angeles finished with an 82-80 record, and there were reports of dissension in the clubhouse.
