Giambi Relents Will Meet With Mitchell
New York Yankees designated hitter Jason Giambi, who is currently on the disabled list, agreed on Thursday to a meeting with MLB Chief Steroid Investigator George Mitchell. Earlier this week reports surfaced that MLB Commissioner Bud Selig had demanded Giambi agree to a meeting with the former U.S. Senator by Thursday, or face possible punitive actions. Giambi released a statement on Thursday, saying that he alone was responsible for his actions and never tried to infer anything differently. The Commissioner's office also released a statement saying that they were glad that a meeting had been agreed to and it would be scheduled shortly.
