Pedro's Back Mets Beat Reds 10-4
New York Mets starter Pedro Martinez made his first start of the 2007 campaign, and although he was not vintage "Pedro" he was good enough to get the win as the Mets swept the Cincinnati Reds by winning the final game of their series 10-4. Martinez who had shoulder surgery last October, was on a strict pitch count, which he actually exceeded by one pitch. Perdro threw 76 pitches in five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out four and walking three. Martinez also recorded his career strikeout 3000 becoming only the 15th pitcher in MLB history to accomplish the feat. New York torched Reds Ace Aaron Harang who went 5.2 innings, allowing six runs on ten hits, as his record fell to 14-4. New York has increased their lead back up to five games in the N.L. East, after seeing Philadelphia pull within two last week.
