Torre Named As Dodgers Manager
The Associated Press announced Thursday that the Los Angeles Dodgers have hired Joe Torre to be their new manager. The report says that the former Yankee skipper has agreed to a three year deal for $13 million. The report also says that his bench coach with New York Don Mattingly will be going to Los Angeles as well as part of his staff. Former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda speaking for team owner Frank McCourt said that the team was excited by the hiring. Torre turned down a one year incentive laden contract to remain with the Yankees last month. He will be introduced as the manager of the Dodgers on Monday.
