Mets Get Castillo From Twins To Solidify Infield

The New York Mets on Monday acquired second baseman Luis Castillo from the Minnesota Twins for two minor league prospects. The Mets were in need of a second baseman after Jose Valentin went on the disabled list last month after breaking his leg when he fouled a pitch off it . Castillo has been an All-Star second baseman three times as well as winning three gold gloves. The Mets gave the Twins Double A catcher Drew Butera, and Single A outfielder Dustin Martin in return for Castillo. Minnesota recalled Alexi Casilla from Triple A Rochester to take over second.
