Phillies Pick Up Lohse For Stretch Run

For the second year in a row Kyle Lohse will be changing uniforms as the MLB trade deadline grows near. Last year the Cincinnati Reds picked up Lohse from the Minnesota Twins as they tried to make the post season, which they did not. On Monday the Reds traded Lohse to the Philadelphia Phillies as Philadelphia after winning on Monday night now trail the National League East leading Mets by only three games. Lohse has not a great year for Cincinnati as he has a 6-12 record with an ERA of 4.58, however he has gone 4-3 with a 2.57 ERA at home. The Reds get Matt Maloney a 23 year old Double A pitcher in return. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said that Lohse will be one of his starting pitchers, but did not say whose place he would take in the rotation.
