Bonds Historic HR Baseballs Auctioned Off

The baseballs that Barry Bonds hit home runs numbers 755 and 756 were auctioned by Sotheby's/SCP Auctions on Saturday. The baseballs were put up for auction by the two men who recovered them. The ball that broke the record, number 756 got $752,467 for it's owner 21 year old Matt Murphy. Ironically, Murphy is a Mets fan who happened to be in San Francisco on a layover back to New York from Australia. Murphy purchased a $12.00 ticket for $100.00 but seems to have gotten a nice return on his initial investment. Number 755 fetched $186,750 for it's owner 34 year old plumber Adam Hughes from LaJolla, California. Bonds hit that home run in San Diego in a game against the Padres.
