Rocket To Get Cortisone Injection In Sore Elbow
Reports out of New York Monday said that Yankees 45 year old veteran starter Roger Clemens will receive a cortisone injection in his sore right elbow. Clemens made an early exit on Monday as New York lost to the Seattle Mariners 7-1. Clemens pitched only four innings allowing five runs, and after the game he had a MRI on the troubling elbow. The Yankees said that the MRI showed inflammation, Clemens alluded to reporters that it might be more serious than that. Clemens will travel to Houston to be examined by their team physician Dr. Thomas Mehlhoff and will probably get the injection at that time. Clemens says he has never had a cortisone shot in his elbow before but would be willing to undergo a series of them if necessary. The Rocket is expected to miss one start, Mike Mussina who relieved Clemens in Monday's game will get the nod.
