Thome Hits 499 Chi-Sox Beat Tribe 7-4
Chicago White Sox DH Jim Thome hit career home run number 499 as the Chi-Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 7-4 Wednesday. Thome got the round tripper against former Indians teammate Jake Westbrook in the bottom of the fourth. It was Thome's 27th home run of the 2007 campaign. Thome who was on the disabled list for 30 games this season would become the 23rd MLB player to reach 500 home runs. Earlier this year Frank Thomas and Alex Rodriguez hit the historic mark. The win ended a three game losing streak for Chicago, and also ended a four game winning streak for Cleveland who are leading the American League Central Division. Westbrook got the loss Javier Vasquez picked up the win for the White Sox. Chicago is off on Thursday, but Thome will then have a three game series in front of the Chicago fans as he pursues number 500. The White Sox will host the Los Angeles Angels.
