Pettitte Gets 200th Win Yanks Cut Lead to 1.5 Beat Birds 2-1
The New York Yankees winners of 12 of their last 14 games, are in line to pull off easily the biggest comeback in Pro Sports in the new millennium. The Yankees who at one time this season trailed American League East Division leaders the Boston Red Sox by 14.5 games Wednesday night cut the lead to 1.5 games. With the Red Sox in a monumental tail spin losing Wednesday night to Toronto 6-1 the Yankees faced the Baltimore Orioles with Andy Pettite on the mound. All Pettitte did was go seven and two thirds, allowing just one run on seven hits as the Bombers beat the Birds 2-1. It was Pettittte's career win number 200, and there have not many that came in more clutch situations. The Orioles who are in a tailspin themselves have lost 22 of their last 28 games.
