Pirates Name Huntington General Manager

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been trying to get back to being a competitive team since losing Andy Van Slyke, Bobby Bonilla, and Barry Bonds in the early 1990's. They may have finally started heading in the right direction! The Pirates on Tuesday named long time Cleveland Indians advance scout Neal Huntington as their new General Manager replacing Dave Littlefield who was dismissed earlier this month. Huntington who was also a former Assistant General Manager to Cleveland G.M. Mark Shapiro filled a wide spectrum of positions during his tenure with the team. Huntington who is 38, is widely known for his talent evaluation, he was a major factor in Cleveland's rebuilding process that culminated this season into an American League Central Division Championship. Huntington is only the twelfth man ever to be a Pittsburgh Pirates General Manager.
