Beckett Stops Bo-Sox Skid With Win #20 Beat D-Rays 8-1
Boston Red Sox starter Josh Beckett became MLB's first 20 game winner since 2005, and the Red Sox stopped their losing skid as they defeated the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 8-1. That combined with the New York Yankees 5-4 gave Boston back a cushion of 2.5 games in the American League East. Their "magic number" is now down to 7 games. David Ortiz, Jason Varitek, and Mike Lowell all went deep for Boston. Beckett went six innings allowing one run on just four hits.
