The Boston Red Sox announced on Friday that they have placed starter Curt Schilling on the 15 day disabled list retroactive to last Tuesday. Schilling has been suffering from a sore shoulder spent Friday back at Fenway Park according to team manager Terry Francona. The pitcher received stretching treatment and was expected to rejoin the team in San Diego either Friday night or Saturday. The Sox called up David Murphy an outfielder from their Triple A affiliate Pawtucket to fill the roster spot.
