Ecko Looking For His 15 Minutes To Send Bonds Ball to Hall
Sorry, I do not know the first thing about fashion, so up until a few days ago I had never heard of Mark Ecko. Apparently, Mr. Ecko is a fashion designer, and has an interest in Baseball, or at least baseballs, specifically one ball. Ecko was the high bidder on the ball that San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds hit for his record breaking 756th home run. Now, while I will not go as far as Barry did last week, and call this man an idiot, I will say he is doing an idiotic action. Ecko put up some kind of survey or poll up on the Internet asking fans what to do with the ball; Survey Says: put an asterisk on the ball and send it to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Now as I said at the top, I have no idea who this man is, if he is a Baseball fan, or just some publicity seeker looking for his "15 minutes of fame." For all I know he could be very famous in his field. But as some one who loves and respects the Game of Baseball in spite of it's flaws, and there are many, I just find this degrading. Degrading to the Sport, and just catering to the lowest common denominator. Here is hoping that when Cooperstown gets the ball they file it in the circular file AKA the wastebasket.
