McGowan Loses No-No But Jays Sweep Rockies

Toronto Blue Jays starter Dustin McGowan lost his bid for a no hitter and baseball immortality in the ninth inning, but won the game as the Jays topped the Colorado Rockies 5-0. The victory gave Toronto a sweep of the the weekend series. McGowan took his no hitter into the top of the ninth when Rockies DH Jeff Baker opened the inning with a single. McGowan allowed only one walk and struck out seven. It would have been the second no hitter in Jays history, Dave Stieb threw the team's only no hitter in 1990.
